Electrics

Electrics options
There are different options available for wiring your car. Below is a small explanation of the options available. We recommend having the car wired to the same configuration as your main trailer to remove the need for using adapters. As this isn’t always possible, we stock adapters to ensure you can tow all of your trailers.

Dedicated

We started using these kits when they were first released and have been using genuine vehicle specific wiring kits for many years. We have invested in several coding tools and have a vast knowledge in coding and CanBus systems. These kits are vehicle specific and are fully integrated into the vehicle’s electrics. They de-activate parking sensors where applicable, they also activate safety systems in the vehicle including trailer stability programs and anti-sway programs where applicable.

Bypass Relay

This is a more cost-effective solution which uses a bypass relay to bypass the vehicles CanBus system. These are a popular method and are safe to use. With this method, parking sensors remain active while towing and vehicle safety features are not activated if applicable. We solder into the loom providing a much more reliable connection than scotch locks.

7 pin (N) single socket

This is a single black socket. Used for small box trailers, boat trailers and some bike racks. A 7 pin N connection provides road lights to the trailer.

7 pin (N&S) twin socket

This retains the black socket for road lights but also adds another grey socket to provide functions for caravans and some commercial trailers. The supplementary socket provides two switched power supplies for on trailer battery charging, one permanent live for running interior lights etc and a reverse light.

13 pin socket

This is a new Euro plug fitted to caravans and large trailers since approximately 2013. They incorporate both road lights with the supplementary functions into one socket. We are able to wire them as 8 function (just road lights) or fully functional.
